One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back.

Siddha

The Siddha system of medicine is mainly practiced in the Southern part of India.

The word Siddha has its origin in the Tamil word Siddhi which means “an object to be attained” or “perfection” or “heavenly bliss”.

Agastyar is believed to be the founding father of Siddha Medicine. Eighteen Siddhars are considered to be pillars of Siddha Medicine.

‘Food is medicine, medicine is food’ is Siddha’s motto.

Siddha medicine is claimed to revitalize and rejuvenate dysfunctional organs that cause the disease.

Cause of Disease

According to the Siddha medicine system, diet and lifestyle play a major role in health and in curing diseases.

This concept of the Siddha medicine is termed as pathiyam and apathiyam, which is essentially a rule based system with a list of “do’s and don’ts”.
