About Us

One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin. He lay on his armour-like back.

Naturopathy

The term “naturopathy” originates from “natura” (Latin root for birth) and “pathos” (the Greek root for suffering) to suggest “natural healing“. Naturopaths claim the ancient Greek “Father of Medicine”, Hippocrates, as the first advocate of naturopathic medicine. The practice of naturopathy is based on a belief in the body’s ability to heal itself through a special vital energy or force guiding bodily processes internally. Naturopaths often recommend exposure to naturally occurring substances, such as sunshine, herbs and certain foods, as well as activities they describe as natural, such as exercise, meditation and relaxation. Naturopaths aim to prevent illness through stress reduction and changes to diet and lifestyle, often rejecting the methods of evidence-based medicine.

Principles & beliefs

  • Self-healing: Identifying and removing obstacles to recovery, allows for natural healing.
  • Underlying symptoms: Rather than stopping symptoms, a naturopathic doctor can resolve underlying physical or mental issues by treating the body, mind, and spirit.
  • Harmless treatment: Treatment plans should not have harmful side effects or control symptoms negatively.
  • Holistic treatment: A naturopathic doctor must recognize individuality to treat all aspects of a person’s health effectively.
  • Education in treatment: Naturopathic doctors teach self-care to help empower people against ill health.
  • Prevention: It is good to remove toxic substances from a lifestyle to prevent problems from arising.

Treatment plans

  • Diet and nutrition recommendations
  • Behavioral change, such as exercise and lifestyle
  • Homeopathy, a type of natural medicine
  • Hydrotherapy, which is water-based treatment
  • Manipulative therapy, for instance, putting pressure on certain parts of the body to establish balance
  • Herbal dietary supplements
  • Detoxification
  • Psychotherapy

Naturopathy also focuses on finding the cause of the disease rather than merely treating symptoms. Some of this system’s principles are not that different from those of traditional healing systems such as Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine. Naturopathy involves a whole-system, whole-person philosophy.
